With each new year more and more people worldwide are utilizing the internet for their everyday needs such as researching for school assignments, shopping for products and services and even for more personal needs as a tool for finding a prospective partner. Resent scientific research has revealed surprising evidence suggesting that up to 90% of online dating personnel profiles are intentionally misrepresented. In other words the research published in Scientific American reveals that almost all daters online lie in their personal profiles.
While the majority of the people using dating services online lie in their profiles only 20% interviewed in a survey conducted by Boston University’s researcher Jeana Frost admitted they have misrepresented themselves in some way. Asking people who have used online dating services if they believe that other people lie on their profile’s most will say that everyone does it.
This shocking evidence will no doubt affect any new dating guide or publications that are planned to be released. Some of the known misrepresentations on people’s dating profiles that are common include lying about weight. On average both men and women shave off five to fifteen pounds when listing their weight on their profiles and usually add an inch to their height.
Some areas of deception differ between men and women, for example: Men usually lie about their educational accomplishments, age, income and almost 15% of men claim to be single but are actually married. Women are much more likely to be deceptive about their age, weight and physical appearance.
The deception in the online dating industry is not only limited to the users of such services, but it’s surprising to discover that the dating services themselves give a false representation of the number of people using their services in attempt to lure more customers. Some online dating publications have claimed more than 45 million Americans use online dating services, when it fact the numbers are less than 25% of that claim.
No doubt that the Internet has made people’s lives easier in many ways, but in regards to finding a mate or a long term relationship it takes patience and communication skills that have to be honed off line. The research has shown that humans are misleading when it comes to representing themselves. So the best strategy is to take this information as a helpful warning and don’t be too harsh to judge a person you meet from a dating services if they have a few extra pounds, no one is perfect.

Science
Chemistry is part of our everyday lives. The food often we eat undergoes a chemical reaction, such as baking a cake. The medicines that we use are developed in a pharmaceutical chemistry lab. The gasoline you used to drive your automobile, the plastic bottle to hold your water, and the smoke detector that keeps you and your family safe are all advances through study of chemistry.
In chemistry you will study the chemical properties of materials. How and why elements combine, properties of matter, and chemical reactions are all part of the study of chemistry. In a chemistry lab, there are endless experiments to understand the world of chemistry. Chemistry labs are exciting and interesting; because they pertain to the way we live and advance our lives. Determine how rust works through oxidation, how your body digests food through chemical reactions, or study osmosis and learn how plants acquire the nutrients they need to live.
Employment opportunities in t he world of chemistry and science are continually in demand. A bachelor’s degree and often a master’s degree are required for many of these jobs. Chemistry jobs are found in industry, education, medical, military fields. Chemistry majors advance to careers as chemists, medical research, environmental lawyers, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, plastics industry, chemical engineering, agricultural chemists, military chemists, professors and researchers, and the list continues.
